A Japanese newspaper has reported that Japan will offer extra 15 million US dollars in aid to fight terrorism in the Middle East and Africa.
The Sankei Shimbun said in its report that the country hopes to demonstrate its resolve not to cave in to terrorism with the fiancial assistance. This comes after Japan’s loss of two of its nationals by Islamic State extremists.
The report said the money would be distributed through international organisations to affected regions, including countries bordering Syria and Iraq. The assistance will be officially announced at a global counter-terrorism conference starting on Wednesday in Washington.
