Msaki sets The Bassline on fire

You all know that the Eastern Cape is the hub of all that is  talented, amazing and awesome. Asanda Mvana who goes by the stage name of Msaki, is an exceptional singer and guitarist. She launched her EP at the Bassline last night to an awesome crowd, that cheered her on and enjoyed every bit of her offering. Her songwriting skills are something to write to your bae about, her depth and  creativity with words is noteworthy.

She sang songs about love, breakthroughs, dreams and heartbreak. In addition there were  two great songs, one dedicated to her late father in law and one titled Selah, about sharing. Msaki is Eastern Cape based and is working on her debut album due in March (for those who pre-ordered). This independent artist answered her musical calling after ducking and diving for a while, from studying law and doing other things far from music. She claims she was scared of getting into the music business but have always known it is where she belongs. Msaki, who is pregnant with her first child is really excited about her debut album and promises nothing but quality to her fans.

Of the many faces that came to show Msaki some love were her Eastern Cape homies, Nomsa Mazwai and the original thug Luthando Lootlove Shosha. Msaki performed for two hours with a 15 minutes break in between, accompanied by an amazing band, with cellos, violins, percussion, bass and many others – her band is super solid.

Thanks to Johnny Walker Red Up Jazz for inviting us to sing, cry and dance to this phenomenal talent. She is going to take a lot of people by surprise. The power in her voice is unmatched.
