Polling stations opened in Nigeria its electoral commission said, as voters went to the polls to elect a new president in what is being seen as the closest campaign in the country’s history.
A police officer who preferred anonymity, said the policemen deployed to the polling unit order had moved to the INEC Materials Distribution Centre.
He said this was to enable them escort the voting materials safely to the polling centre.
Meanwhile, voters in Kuje, Ibadan , Lagos, Ekiti , Akure , and FCT area , have commended security agencies for maintaining law and order in all the states of the federation
Mr Kola Idowu told NAN that the security operatives were being professional in handling issues at the centre
Accreditation of Port Harcourt voters had not begun as of 8:30 am in some wards in the Port Harcourt constituency
Despite an early voter turnout, many citizens expressed worry regarding late accreditation by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).
Meanwhile, police patrol vehicles were reported to have been seen as early as 7 am dropping off police officials at various polling stations.
Kaduna – The accreditation of voters did not start on time in most polling units in Kaduna metropolis in spite of large turn out of voters.
The media reports that in most of the wards visited, election officials did not turn up as at 8:30 a.m.
There was also no security presence at the polling centres visited.
At Ward 5 in Kabala Costain, Ward 28 on Abuja Street, Lere Street in Ungwan Dosa and ward 7 in Ungwan Liman, the officials were yet to turn up as at 8:15 a.m.
There were also no election officials at Shaba wards 007 and 031, Kajola and some other wards in Kaduna North Local Government.

At Alimi street 003 polling unit in Kaduna, where accreditation did not start as at 8:50 a.m., the assistant presiding officer, Suleman Abdulmumini, said they were waiting for the card reader to be brought.
Accreditation, however, had commenced in some polling units including Narayi Primary School, Unguwan Liman 6.
In Ojo local Government the distribution of election materials was ongoing as at 8:33 a.m, in spite of large turn out of voters.
The situation was, however, different in Birnin Gwari Local government, where the distribution of the materils had not started as at 9:07a.m.
In Kafanchan and Zaria Local Government Areas, accreditation of voters commenced after 8:00 a.m at Kafanchan A and B wards, as well as Garaje and Maigizo polling centres.
In Zaria, accreditation was going on at Kofan Kaura, Gyallesu, Kofan Kibu, Jushi and Kwarbai
A car bomb has exploded at the WTC Primary School polling booth in Enugu North LGA, Naij reports.
Panic gripped the area as voters voters scrambled amid the blast. No casualties have been reported at this time.
The bomb was alleged to have been planted in a Honda Accord behind the school by unknown people who were suspected to have been waiting for the commencement of voting.

Officials from the Police Bomb Unit rushed to the school following an alert, and have reported that one bomb went off while another had been found in the vehicle but had not yet been detonated.
The second bomb had been timed to go off during voting but has since been dismantled.
Dan Basture, Enugu State Police Commissioner, led officials from the command and the Department of State Security to the scene to conduct thorough screening of the area and assure scared voters of their safety.

Une voiture piégée a explosé à l’école primaire de WTC isoloirEnugu Nord LGA, rapports Naij.
Panique a saisi la région comme électeurs électeurs brouillés au milieu de l’explosion. Aucune victime n’ont été signalés en cemoment.
La bombe aurait ont été plantés dans une Honda Accord derrièrel’école par des inconnus soupçonnés d’attendent depuis le débutdu vote.

Personnel de l’unité de bombe de Police se sont précipités àl’école suite à une alerte et ont rapporté qu’une bombe a exploséalors que l’autre avait été trouvé dans le véhicule, mais n’avaitpas encore explosé.
La deuxième bombe avait été programmée pour s’éteindre lorsdu vote, mais a depuis été démantelée.
