AirAsia X (AAX), Asia’s leading medium-haul low-cost carrier, has officially launched its highly anticipated direct flights to Nairobi, Kenya.

This new route marks a significant milestone in AAX’s expansion into Africa, offering travelers from both continents unprecedented connectivity and opportunities for exploration.

The launch of the Kuala Lumpur-Nairobi route coincides with a strategic partnership between AAX and the Kenya Tourism Board. This collaboration aims to promote tourism between the two regions, leveraging the strengths of both organizations to attract more visitors and stimulate economic growth.

We are thrilled to introduce this new route, which will serve as a gateway to Africa for travelers from Asia and vice versa, said Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X. Our partnership with the Kenya Tourism Board aligns perfectly with our vision of connecting people and cultures through affordable air travel.

The direct flights to Nairobi offer travelers a convenient and efficient way to explore the diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Kenya. From the iconic Maasai Mara National Park to the breathtaking coastal cities of Mombasa and Kilifi, Kenya has something to offer every traveler.

For Kenyan travelers, the new route provides easy access to Asia’s vibrant cities and exotic destinations.

Kuala Lumpur, AAX’s hub, serves as a gateway to Southeast Asia, offering a blend of modern amenities and traditional charm. From there, travelers can connect to popular destinations such as Bangkok, Bali, and Singapore.

The launch of the  kuala lumpur Nairobi route also has significant economic implications for both countries. It is expected to boost tourism, create jobs, and stimulate local businesses. By increasing connectivity, AAX is helping to bridge the gap between Africa and Asia, fostering trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

June Chepkemei, CEO of Kenya Tourism Board gave comment on the importance of the new partnership. She said that the collaboration would drive a substantial growth in tourism numbers to Kenya.

This enhanced connectivity will stimulate economic growth and create new opportunities for local businesses. By facilitating easier access to Nairobi, the country anticipates increased tourism revenue and stronger cultural exchange. This will benefit both Kenya’s tourism sector and its broader economy.

In addition to the direct flights, AAX has also partnered with magical aviation srvices. The company will be its Official General Sales Agent in Nairobi. This will serve to ensure a seamless travel experience for Kenyan travelers.

Magical Aviation Services provides local expertise and support, helping AAX to tailor its services to the specific needs of the Kenyan market.

As part of its commitment to the Kenyan market, AAX has also opened its first Sales Office in Nairobi. This office serves as a one-stop-shop for customers, offering on-the-ground support, sales services, and information about AAX’s products and services.

The introduction of this direct route is also set to play a crucial role by offering Kenyan travellers convenient Fly-Thru access to Asia’s leading destinations through Kuala Lumpur. Moreover, in alignment with Malaysia’s upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, this new route will bolster Malaysia’s appeal as a premier travel destination offering diverse experiences.
