Norse Atlantic Airways is making major changes to its flight network for the upcoming winter season. The airline will start flying to Thailand with four new long-haul routes. These include flights from Oslo to Phuket starting December 8, from Stockholm to Phuket starting December 4, from Stockholm to Bangkok starting October 22, and from London Gatwick to Bangkok starting October 26. These flights are expected to run multiple times per week and will use Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The routes are aimed at meeting the growing demand from European travelers looking for sunny destinations during the colder months.
At the same time, Norse is reducing its presence in the United States by cutting three routes. These include flights from London Gatwick to Las Vegas, from Oslo to Miami, and from Berlin to Miami. These U.S. routes will not operate during the winter season. This change follows previous cutbacks, as Norse has already ended twelve U.S. routes and stopped service to five American airports since it began operations in 2022. The decision to scale back in the U.S. is based on route profitability and operational performance.
Even with the cuts, the airline is showing signs of growth. In May 2025, Norse had a load factor of 96 percent across its network and carried over 182,000 passengers, which is a 41 percent increase compared to the same month last year. However, flight punctuality dropped slightly to 81 percent due to air traffic control delays and busy airport conditions.
Norse Atlantic’s latest moves show a shift in focus toward more profitable leisure routes during peak travel seasons. The airline is putting more capacity into routes that are expected to perform well, such as those to Southeast Asia, and cutting back on routes that haven’t met expectations. This strategy is aimed at improving financial stability and better using its limited fleet resources.
