ZANU PF affiliates from Masvingo province have benefited from the Presidential Empowerment Revolving Fund, with the programme expected to benefit more people.
This Tuesday saw eight affiliates from Masvingo province, which include Children of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle, Cross-borders for ED, Vapostori for ED, Vendors for ED, Hairdressers for ED, Boyz Dzamdhara, Nurses for ED and Pastors for ED benefitting from the Presidential Empowerment Revolving Fund to the tune of US$250 000.
Beneficiaries of the programme expressed gratitude to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his administration for ensuring empowerment across all provinces.
“As Crossboarders for ED, we want to thank our President for giving us funds through the Presidential Empowerment Revolving Fund. This will go a long way in capacitating many of us who have been struggling to boost our small businesses, and now that we are capacitated, we are going to make sure every cross-border in Masvingo, including those in rural areas, benefit because it’s a revolving fund,” Crossboarders for ED provincial chairperson, Ms Tsungai Mabhiza said.
“Today is a great day for us as Vapostori and Mazion, as we have received funding to capacitate our people. We are going to use this money to upgrade our infrastructure, start small businesses, remember as we pray for the nation, we also need to feed our families, hence we say thank you to our President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa,” noted Vapostori for ED national chairperson, Madzibaba Moses Gwasarira.
Speaking before distributing the funds, Presidential Investments Advisor Dr Paul Tungwarara emphasised the importance of transparency and accountability, saying the fund is expected to benefit more people.
“President Emmerson Mnangagwa launched this Presidential Empowerment Revolving Fund mainly to ensure our membership through affiliates are capacitated. This funding, as I said before, is a revolving fund. Hence, we have to be transparent in disbursing it and ensure beneficiaries are accountable, as it is meant to benefit more people,” he said.
The Masvingo Provincial leadership called upon beneficiaries of the fund to start meaningful projects that empower them and their communities.
“As a province, we are going to set up an audit committee that will be responsible for following up on projects you will be embarking on as beneficiaries of the Presidential Empowerment Revolving Fund. We are happy that as a province, we continue to benefit from various programmes implemented by the government to empower communities, highlighted Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira.
ZANU PF Masvingo Provincial Chairperson Senator Robson Mavhenyengwa weighed in, “Our President is fulfilling his promise of empowering communities, and as a party, we are proud of his leadership qualities. Today, many of our members through affiliates have benefited, and this will create jobs.”
The programme also saw outstanding village business units from Chivi North receiving funding after showcasing their produce, which proved that VBUs are transforming rural lives.
“As Chivi North, we are beneficiaries of the Presidential Borehole Drilling Scheme and village business units. The programme has empowered many in our communities, hence today we are showcasing some of our projects in horticulture, poultry, and fisheries,” said Chivi North Legislator, Honourable Godfrey Mukungunugwa.
The Presidential Empowerment Revolving Fund is among many programmes spearheaded by the Second Republic to ensure the upliftment of people, especially those from previously marginalised communities, in line with the inclusive development agenda.
