LIVESTOCK farmers and wildlife conservancies in Binga have received a shot in the arm after the Zimbabwe Defence Forces constructed new offices for the Department of Veterinary Services in the area.
An idea conceived in 2022 is now a reality after the Veterinary Services Department offices were officially handed over by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces on Tuesday.
The development is expected to boost livestock farming and wildlife conservation efforts in the district.
“This is important to us as Binga people, we are grateful for this development,” said a beneficiary.
“We continue to witness important developments in our community, and we are excited that this is taking place in our lifetime,” noted another.
The Department of Veterinary Services says the template will be replicated in different areas across the country.
“We plan to use this building as a template for other offices we will build. Besides that, we are grateful to the ZDF for helping in construction and our people will make use of it,” noted Department of Veterinary Services chief director, Dr Pious Makaya.
The Zimbabwe Defence Forces pledged to continue enhancing its role as a technical solutions base for communities.
“As the military, we have an important role to play in assisting the civilian population. We will continue working with the people to ensure development in communities. We have done similar across the country and will continue doing so. This is for the people’s needs, and that’s what matters most,” highlighted Chief of Staff Quartermaster Staff, Major General Simo Maseko.
The facility is part of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces’ contribution to national development, over and above protecting the territorial integrity of the country.
This year’s Defence Forces Day celebrations will be marked under the theme: ‘Zimbabwe Defence Forces: Guaranteeing Peace and Stability for the Attainment of Vision 2030.’
