Presidential Poultry Scheme gains momentum in Midlands

THE ZANU PF Women’s League has partnered with the Young Women 4ED in accelerating the implementation of the Presidential Poultry Scheme, with women in the Midlands Province benefitting.

A total of 10 000 chickens were distributed to women across the province at an event held in Redcliff this Wednesday.

The scheme is part of broader empowerment programme meant to alleviate the plight of young women in society.

“If women are empowered, they contribute to the development of the economy. We are going to assist women below the age of 40 across the country,” Young Women for ED National Coordinator, Honourable Tatenda Mavetera noted.

Beneficiaries are upbeat the programme will transform their lives for the better.

“We are grateful for this life-changing experience. It is a new dawn for us as we have been empowered,” a beneficiary said.

“This is huge as it will change our way of life.  Today, we have been empowered to be financially viable and independent,” another added.

The ZANU PF Women’s League leadership says the initiative is critical in creating wealth for previously marginalised communities.

“Women in our society are pace setters. Their involvement in business dynamics cannot be ignored,” Legislator for Midlands Province Women’s Quota Honourable Tsistsi Zhou stated.

“This programme guarantees women empowerment.  We want to see our women financially independent,” Secretary for Administration for ZANU PF Women’s League, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa added.

“I would like to thank the President for this initiative. His efforts are transforming societies. In the party’s constitution, we have a clause that recognises the role of affiliates and as such, we co-exist for a good cause,” ZANU PF Women’s League’s National Commissar Senator Maybe Mbowa noted.

The Midlands province welcomed the initiative, saying it will propel economic activity in the region.

“The aforementioned initiatives are highly commendable as they empower the Midlands province, the heartbeat and Pinnacle resource centre of Zimbabwe. We want to welcome the empowerment initiatives meant to accelerate the national development under the able leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa towards the attainment of a prosperous upper middle income society by 2030,” Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Owen Ncube said.

The ZANU PF party is coming up with various empowerment initiatives to complement government efforts in its industrialisation efforts as the country aims to attain an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
