No one will Play Roger Federer’s Style Again Anytime soon’, Says Young Ace

'No one will play Roger Federer's style again anytime soon', says young ace

Jannik Sinner’s run in Barcelona ended abruptly in the semifinals against Stefanos Tsitsipas, perhaps the fittest player on the circuit and current number 1 in the Race. The 19-year-old from South Tyrol wasted several opportunities during the match, ending up giving up with a score of 6-3 6-3 in just under an hour and a half.

The different performance between the two in the service dug the decisive furrow, as well as the greater cynicism of the Greek in the decisive moments. The pupil of Riccardo Piatti, who during the week had eliminated Roberto Bautista-Agut and Andrey Rublev, can still console himself by having updated his best ranking.

“I am disappointed, I was unable to express my best tennis. I feel that all of these experiences are essential to help me improve. Today I got the feeling that he knew exactly what to do in the crucial moments of the match.

Stefanos served very well and I didn’t know how to take advantage of my chances” – commented Jannik. In a recent interview with Bild, Sinner confirmed that he feels great admiration for Roger Federer.

Jannik Sinner on his passion for Roger Federer

“Roger Federer.

No one will play his style again anytime soon,” Jannik Sinner told Bild when asked who his idol was. The 19-year-old added that he also looks up to Andreas Seppi: “The first South Tyrolean who broke something in the tennis world”.

Like Sinner, former world No. 18 Seppi is from the province of South Tyrol in the northeast of Italy. Sinner also talked of choosing tennis over skiing: “(In skiing) You train hard all the time, then you make a small mistake in the race and you are 10th.

“But I’m not interested in 10th place. You can make a mistake there (in tennis), but still win. The whole year. When it comes to skiing, you only have a few months. “I was seven years old when I just played soccer and went skiing for a year.

Then my father said I should try tennis and I really enjoyed it. Three years later I stopped skiing”. Roger Federer has now shed some light on his clay-court schedule; he will first be seen at ATP Geneva Open 2021. Given his uncertain return to the tour at ATP Doha Open, his former coach Paul Annacone weighed in on his chances on the clay court, especially the French Open.

Annacone spoke positively about Federer‘s return in Doha, where he was defeated in just his second match. His clay schedule comes prematurely for Roger’s liking, as he has just two matches under his belt so far.

But Annacone is optimistic about Federer’s clay-court credentials and only has Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Dominic Thiem ahead of him for French Open 2021.
