Ghanaian Gospel Singer KODA’s Final Funeral Rites Set for September 20, 2024

Kofi Owusu Dua Anto, popularly known as KODA, was a beloved figure in Ghana’s gospel music community. His death on April 21, 2024, at age 45, was a significant loss, particularly after he had endured a short illness exacerbated by complications from Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, a rare genetic disorder. The complications arose after he was given the wrong prescription, an incident KODA had discussed before his passing.

The final funeral rites, scheduled for September 20, 2024, will be held at the KICC Dominion Centre on Spintex Road in Accra. Family, friends, and members of the music industry are expected to gather in large numbers to celebrate his life and legacy. The event, which was postponed from its original date in July, will be a time for mourners to reflect on KODA’s profound impact on gospel music in Ghana.

KODA’s career was marked by numerous hits, including “Nsempii,” “Nkwa Abodoo,” and “Hosanna.” His contributions to the gospel genre, not only as a singer but also as a producer and songwriter, have left an indelible mark. Many of his colleagues and fans continue to express their admiration for his work, which will undoubtedly inspire future generations of musicians.
