SAWS Issues Yellow Level 4 Warning for Disruptive Rains in Tshwane

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow Level 4 warning for disruptive rainfall in Tshwane, expecting significant rainfall in the coming days. The warning highlights the potential for localized flooding, affecting both urban and rural areas. Residents are urged to prepare for possible traffic disruptions, road closures, and difficulties in daily activities due to heavy downpours.

The forecast suggests that the rain could begin in the early hours and continue for the next 48 hours, with the possibility of up to 50mm of rain in some areas. As the weather system moves through Tshwane, conditions may become hazardous, with reduced visibility and slippery roads. The SAWS has advised people to stay informed and take precautions to safeguard their safety.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged commuters to adjust their travel plans, especially in flood-prone regions. Emergency services are on standby to respond to any incidents related to the weather conditions. Additionally, citizens are encouraged to report any flood-related hazards to local authorities to assist with quicker responses and mitigation efforts.

This severe weather event follows an ongoing trend of heavy rainfall across various regions of South Africa, indicating the onset of the summer rain season. SAWS will continue to issue updates as the situation develops, urging residents to stay vigilant and follow safety guidelines during this time of unpredictable weather.
