THE Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) has officially launched its 2025 Community Assistance Week, marking the beginning of a nationwide rollout of life-changing development projects.
From school infrastructure and clinics to medical outreach and youth empowerment initiatives, the ZDF is reaffirming its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and complementing government efforts in improving livelihoods.
Officially launching the 2025 ZDF Community Assistance Week in Harare this Wednesday, the Minister of Defence, Honourable Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, revealed several key projects to be handed over to communities during this year’s edition.
“These projects align with our secondary mandate of supporting civilian institutions. This includes infrastructure development, disaster response, and drought mitigation efforts. We work together with government departments to deliver real impact. Among the projects to be handed over are A Girls’ Dormitory at Nhowe Mission, Macheke (Mashonaland East), an ECD Classroom Block at Gillingham Primary School, an eight-roomed double-storey Classroom Block at Warren Park 6 Primary School,” she said.
Turning to national celebrations, Honourable Muchinguri-Kashiri gave an update on preparations for the 45th Zimbabwe Defence Forces Day commemorations.
“Zimbabwe will celebrate the 45th anniversary of ZDF Day on August 12, 2025, at Rufaro Stadium. The commemorations will honour the gallant men and women of the Defence Forces who uphold peace and stability as we work towards Vision 2030,” she said.
Guided by the Fish and Water philosophy, the ZDF continues to be a key development partner, championing peace, resilience, and national progress, Excellency Paul-Bertrand Barets said.
