COMMUNIST Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) Central Committee member, Dr Vyacheslav Tetekin, has given credit to Zimbabwe for winning the war against illegal economic sanctions adding that there is need to identify key strategic partners to foster development.
Dr Tetekin interacted with ZANU PF officials at the Chitepo School of Ideology in Harare this Wednesday as part of his visit to Zimbabwe.
Presenting a paper on “The role of the School of Ideology in the Socio-Economic and Political Transformation of the Russian Federation”, he noted the progress that Zimbabwe has made towards transforming people’s lives despite reeling under illegal economic sanctions imposed on the country by the West.
“Sanctions help mobilise the nation to face the enemy, sanctions are an act of war, very powerful mobilising factor. It is the continuation of the liberation struggle, a limited number of countries are introducing sanctions, we shall be able to assist more on technology, we are producing simpler technology but effective. You are overcoming sanctions, you are on the correct path. Emergence of global south, to identify people and countries that will help you overcone sanctions,” he said.
Dr Tetekin stressed the importance of ideology in the development of any country.
“Ideology will always be there as we chart sustainable development, it also helps towards mapping where the nation wants to go. In 1991 we were pragmatic, without proper ideology you can’t chart the route you want to take and to know what is right or wrong is picked from ideology,” he added.
Zimbabwe and Russia enjoy cordial relations on the political and economic front with the high profile visit meant to cement these ties.
