ARTISTS from across the country have converged in Harare for a series of capacity-building workshops aimed at enhancing their digital marketing skills and professional branding.
The workshops are focused on digital platform utilisation and professional branding.
The initiative, a brainchild of the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA), is meant to equip creatives with essential skills to increase their visibility and commercial viability in the digital age.
“As artists from Masvingo, we are here to get an insight into the creative industry and share with other provinces through the experts in digital platforms,” an artist said.
“I am here at the NAMA’s workshop learning a lot about branding, digital marketing and meeting up with other artists from different provinces and discussing how we can go to the next level. Today, we learnt about branding and digital marketing. I hope to teach other creatives in Mutare what I have learnt through this capacity building workshop,” another added.
NAMA Executive Director, Dr Talent Banda emphasised that the programme aims to ensure artists maximise their potential through effective use of digital platforms.
“The purpose of this workshop today is to engage with all artists across all the provinces in Zimbabwe and make sure that they understand what NAMA is and what the National Arts Council is trying to achieve. At this particular workshop, we are looking to achieve more visibility for artists. Some artists are there, but they are not well known because they are not presenting themselves on the right platforms where people are accessible. This workshop is trying to make sure that we guide them through setting up, accessing and using platforms to make an impact on the arts in Zimbabwe.”
This capacity-building initiative represents a crucial step in professionalising Zimbabwe’s arts sector, ensuring that talented artists from all provinces can effectively showcase their work both locally and internationally, ultimately contributing to the growth of the country’s creative economy.
