In a letter to lawmakers published Monday police confirmed they had initiated an investigation into spending at Zuma’s Nkandla home, AFP reported.
The president, who was reelected in May, has insisted that he had no knowledge of the work on his home.
The spending reportedly included the construction of a swimming pool, private clinic and amphitheater. The government said all the refurbishments were “security-related”.
