Morocco-UAE’s Joint Communique Hails Bilateral Relations

Rabat – Morocco and the UAE reiterated on Tuesday their commitment and determination to sustain the momentum of their bilateral relationships and strengthen them to achieve a high level that will lead to a strategic partnership in various fields.

According to the Gulf News, the decision came in “a joint communique that was issued after talks that were held by Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, and his Moroccan counterpart Salaheddine Mezouar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation,” on Tuesday in the Moroccan city of Fez.

The same source added that “the two countries are satisfied with the progress achieved in development projects and agreements that were signed in March during the visit by His Highness General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.”

Last March, King Mohammed VI and Sheikh Mohammed Ben Zayed Al-Nahyane, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, chaired the signing ceremony of 21 bilateral cooperation agreements in various fields.

Concerning the Sahara issue, the UAE reiterated “its supportive stance for the efforts being exerted by Morocco to maintain its territorial integrity as well as for supporting its serious and credible Autonomy Plan presented by Morocco,” as a key foundation for a solution to the fabricated regional conflict over the Sahara.

The two Foreign Ministers highlighted the historical relations and cooperation between Morocco and the GCC countries.
